How we work

A short statement of method, so readers know what our articles are and are not.

Sources

We work from documents that a reader can open: federal regulations and guidance, airport planning papers, published tariffs and conditions of carriage. When a rule has a number in it, the article says which document sets that number. We do not publish figures that we cannot attribute, and we do not repeat prices or timetables that change weekly.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, write to the editors through the contact page and say which sentence and why. Corrections are made in the text, and substantial ones are noted at the foot of the article.

Pictures

Photographs are taken from Wikimedia Commons under free licences and credited in the caption with the author and the licence. Historical pictures inside the Gateway Archive were published on this domain before 2006 and are shown only inside archive pages.

Contributed articles

We accept contributed reporting and guest guides. Contributions follow the same rules as our own work: sourced, checked, no undisclosed advertising. Paid placements, when they run, are marked.
